Warning: long post ahead.
I guess, writing for a living kinda makes you programmed to think, 'I write enough', thus shutting down the bits in me to blog again. Or I am simply way too lazy and undetermined. The latter is more accurate obviously.
–Anyway, let's start this year and the return of this blog with a short recap of what I've been through last year, shall we?
January was the second month I was appointed as full time employee following the 3-months internship before. This month, I was also still in a loving relationship with W.
February. Oh, the month of love! not. Nothing major happened this month. Although, I did–for the first time–attend a fancy luncheon for Yves Rocher launching at Super Loco, Pacific Place.
Fun fact: I'm not exactly someone who often visit new cafes or restaurant, but Super Loco, with its adorable pinkish interior, has earned a spot on my Instagram saved post. So, yay! (I also learned that I don't like Mexican food).
Starting March was scary, because, being a supportive partner at that time, I have to actually met a great number of new people a.k.a. W's friends (and family!) for his thesis defense–which, for an introvert with a hint of social anxiety like me–is a BIG deal. Surprisingly, the day went well (unlike the rest of our relationship after this month. ha.).
Tropical prints for the background as it is also W's favorite prints on shirt
On March 9th, I went with my colleague to attend Rosé All Day event collaboration with Love & Flair where they had this cute pink space, with giant gummy bear (that I later learned was a rip-off from a famous art installation), pink lemonade, pink cotton candy, and more pink stuff. On a completely unrelated note, I also met Tasya Farasya this month during an event.
Nearing the end of March, I went on annual trip to Batam for Cheng Beng (清明节) with mom. Was it stressful? Always. Was it tiring? Absolutely.
We also went to Gardens by the Bay and Bintan Island for the first time. Too bad mom was freezing inside the domes, so we didn't stay long. The sky was also pouring hard when we finally arrived at Bintan. Nonetheless, it was still a pretty okay trip.
April was also the first month I step inside Lamoda, Plaza Indonesia. I used to see Lamoda as the fancy place I'd never visit. I guess ya girl is just too broke for any fancy stuff. This month, W also had his birthday and I might left him traumatized with all the drama. Me and SO's special milestones (birthday, anniversaries, etc.) never went well. I think, it was also the month my sister announced that she's expecting.
I may or may not watched Andien, Tulus, Glen Fredly, Tompi, Vidi Aldiano, and Endah N Rhesa in May during an event. Also met Kawa. And by met I mean I saw him on the stage that is 15 meters away.
On May 8-9th, I went to a secret getaway–literally–it was the name of the event–to Pulau Macan, Kepulauan Seribu. The island was stunning! The cottage, not so much.
No filter needed, literally.
Quoting Laila from Let the Beast In, just like how it is in Bali, "They are designed that way, demi memenuhi selera bule yang emang nyari nuansa alam dan budaya Indonesia. Sementara turis-turis lokal ini ‘kan maunya hotel dengan desain bersih, sleek, dan modern." Spot on!
Back on March's highlights. On 11th, I did my first Swatch & Review video. Went to another Rosé All Day Event and had a nice chitchat afterwards with my coworkers. Did a 1mio worth of facial at Sulwhasoo Spa and had another free facial from ZAP a couple days later.
If I remember correctly, June was the month my relationship with W went downhill. Long story short, it ended.
In July, I met Joan Keem and Edward Avilla for work. Never knew who they were before, but still had fun. Also, I went to my first ever press screening a.k.a watching movies for free before it's released for public. In case you're wondering, the movie was Skyscraper.
Happy Independence Day, Indonesia! August was the month I went to SASC event where I had a nice lunch at Common Grounds, took pretty pictures, and got a cute stickers. This month ends with office's medical check up that shed lots of tears and laughter. Oh, on this month, my cat also got hospitalized.
September was a pretty busy month. On 5th, I went to Mediheal event that continued with a little bit of drama from my coworker. On 13th, I went to Pomelo Fall Collection event with the same coworker I went to Rosé All Day event to. Met basically 90% of local selebgram there (Hi, Eatandtreats–Hi, Catwomanizer–Hi, Ayla Dimitri). Although I feel underdressed and insecure, the night was fun!
On 15-16th, the whole office went for Outing at Bogor. Kinda bleh. But we did have fun jamming to nostalgic songs and playing silly riddle till midnight. On 20th, I went to IKEA for work (fun!). On 22nd, I went to Votre Peau event where I got to meet and chat a bit with Michele Selene Ang, the actress who play Courtney Crimson in 13 Reasons Why.
On 24-25th, my coworker and I got an offer from Classhe, a local beauty salon for two free services and we picked eyelash extension plus facial. The lashes are damn good, but the facial need more improvement. We also got free gel manicure.
I traveled a lot for work in October (and by a lot I mean two times). Went to Medan for Furatasse on 5-6th, chugged a lot of avocado coffee, and learned the hard way that I need to dress better. Had a fun time at Rollover Reaction launch on 26th.
On 12-13th, I went to Bandung for Brun Brun. The highlights of this trips was definitely Iga Bakar Sijangkung and the deep talk afterwards with my boss and other two coworker. The trip was originally planned for three days (Fri-Sun, the event was on Saturday), but I didn't feel well (plus, I need my Sunday sleep), so me and another friend decided to travel back on Saturday night. Also, this is the first time I took a travel all by myself.
November started with a surprise. Quite literally, as it is my birthday month. The next day, I went to Surabaya for another Brun Brun event. Again, the highlight of this trip was actually the conversation on the plane, on the car rides to the hotel, and on the hotel room afterwards. By the end of this trip, me, the stranger who sat on the next aisle gave me his card (he turns out to be some kind of manager at Carrefour).
On 8th, I went to a day trip to Puncak for Innisfree event which was fun! Although, the ride home was pretty disastrous (after a crazy traffic back to Jakarta, no Go-Jek wants to pick us up for about an hour, so we walked had to walk to FX from somewhere near Pacific Place).
The very next day, I went to YSL Beauty Hotel and it was a blast. I had lots of fun, felt amazing, took great pictures, met 90% of selebgram again, and got a sip of wine (which I didn't like). Then, on 29th, it was my Editor in Chief's birthday a.k.a surprise party, and again, we had a blast!
Two days before November ended and the day after the surprise party, I went to Tulola event at Hotel Dharmawangsa and let me tell y'all–the decoration was v pretty! The place is also packed with rich people (HA ha) and they were charming. Also got to interview Happy Salma while I was here.
December! Alright, first up, this month was the month I got to ate for free a lot. On 3rd, I went to Plaza Indonesia Good Food Festival which basically is a food bazaar that where I can grab anything–countless times–for free and this includes Eatlah, Kitchenette, Pablo, and many more.
One of the t-shirt sold at the Zumba studio.
On 5th, I was invited to eat at Seoul Yummy, which is a Korean BBQ. Then, on 8th, it was Joe & Dough with its delish pastries. However, in this very month, I also did Zumba for the very first time! It was part of an event, so the instructor knew we had little experience and decided to level down the difficulty (yet, I'm still struggling to keep up and ended up with sore muscle days afterwards).
The last highlight of this month and this year was COSRX event plus M&G with Sunny Dahye on December 8th. No, I didn't know Sunny nor that excited to see her. She's sweet, tho. I want to remember this day because after the event, me and 6 other coworker including my boss had a dinner together, chatted for a while until it was just the four of us: me, my Editor in Chief, and other 2 coworker. And that night, we had a wild chat and would you rather game until it's 12.30AM. It's indeed one of the best night I've had in a long time.

Sooo... that's 2018. Thank you and I bid you farewell!
